97,250 posters removed from public buildings

Chandigarh: Since the enforcement of the model code of conduct on January 4, around 97,250 wall writings, posters and banners of political nature have been removed from public buildings across the state.



Chandigarh: Since the enforcement of the model code of conduct on January 4, around 97,250 wall writings, posters and banners of political nature have been removed from public buildings across the state. Around 1.22 lakh such defacements have been removed from private buildings. Of the total about 3.8 lakh licensed weapons in the state, only 1.83 lakh have been deposited so far. The EC has received 889 complaints so far, most of which are regarding voter-ID cards and seeking transfers of officials overstaying at a seat. Of these, 736 complaints have been disposed of and 146 are in the process of being addressed.  As many as 78.1 per cent of the complaints were received online. tns
