Shimla, January 16
Shimla Deputy Mayor Tikender Panwar today urged the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests to allow the Shimla Municipal Corporation to install a machine that produces ultrasonic waves to scare away monkeys.
He said he was surprised over the dilly-dallying attitude of the Forest Department for not allowing the MC to install the machine which scares away monkeys in 1,000 square feet. He said over 200 monkey bite cases are reported in the town every month. He said the machine needs to be tested, tried and then installed. “We need a place to install the machine in the forest area,” he said.
