Faridabad, February 24

The Municipal Corporation would install around 1,000 CCTV cameras under the smart city project to ensure the safety and security of residents. The district administration has already installed 26,000 CCTV cameras under the Police- Public initiative to check crime, but residents continue to feel unsafe. Police Commissioner Hanif Qureshi said a common control room would also be set up as the cameras installed were being monitored by the RWAs and market associations. KL Gera, a social activist, said there were several places in the city that were unsafe. He said the RWA had raised the issue with the authorities concerned, but there was hardly any progress.
