Haryana decides to do away with nominations to HCS

Chandigarh: Nominations to the Haryana Civil Services (HCS) are set to be a thing of the past with the state Cabinet on Friday approving major amendments to the Haryana Civil Services (Executive Branch) Rules, 2008.

Chandigarh: Nominations to the Haryana Civil Services (HCS) are set to be a thing of the past with the state Cabinet on Friday approving major amendments to the Haryana Civil Services (Executive Branch) Rules, 2008.

The meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, decided to do away with the provision of making special recruitments to the HCS (Executive Branch) as provided under Rule 7 against the backdrop of large-scale litigation in the past.

Currently, under Rule 7, the Group “B” and Group “C” officials — excluding doctors, engineers, police officers and technical staff — are considered for nomination to the HCS under special recruitment. More often than not, staff of the senior functionaries, including ministers and bureaucrats, find a place in the HCS through nomination.

After an amendment, the pattern of preliminary examination on the pattern of the Union Public Service Commission will be adopted. There would also be a Civil Services Aptitude Test, besides an optional test. —TNS
