Mayor raps officials for not meeting dog-bite victims

Mayor Asha Jaswal today pulled up MC officials not meeting stray dog-bite victims of Sector 15 here. Asha, who returned after attending two-day Mayor-in-Council meet in Gwalior, today held a meeting with all senior officers of the MC.

Sources revealed in the meeting, the Mayor pulled up officials after some of the victims alleged that nobody from the MC met them and informed them about the positive report of the dead dog. Chandigarh Tribune had highlighted the plight of stray dog-bite victims of Sector 15.

During the meeting, the Mayor also reviewed various projects of the MC. She stressed upon the need to fix time for public meeting of all officers during duty hours. She also asked the nodal officer concerned for strict compliance of grievances received through toll free number i.e. 155304.

The Mayor said the work of cleaning road gullies be started early and broken road gullies be repaired or replaced wherever required. She also focused on challaning violators, who throw malba in the open spaces other than designated places throughout the city. She said penalty be imposed on contractors, who do not lift malba after renovating government quarters in various sectors. All Junior Engineers be instructed to report any kind of problems and repair works in their respective areas to avoid general public complaints.

She instructed officers concerned to remove junk spread by junk dealers at government land i.e. parks and on road berms. She said cut fruits in the open and sale of open ice be removed from city markets and violators be warned for strict legal action. She asked the engineers concerned to cover garbage bins throughout city. TNS
