MC orders attaching of three properties

CHANDIGARH: The Municipal Corporation today issued orders of attaching three properties for their failure to pay tax of over 10 lakhs.

The Municipal Corporation today issued orders of attaching three properties for their failure to pay tax of over 10 lakhs.

The notices have been issued to one Janta Cooperative Transport Society Limited at Plot Number 12, Transport Area, which owed about Rs 5.5 lakh as property tax, first, second and third floors of shop number 34-35 at the Ekta market in Burail village, who owes tax of Rs 2.5 lakh and shop number 36-37 at Ekta market in Burail has not paid dues amounting to Rs 2.21 lakh.

The notices were issued under Section 138 of the Punjab MC Act, 1976, as extended to UT Chandigarh.

The total outstanding amount pertaining to property tax is Rs 22 crore. To encourage compliance, the civic body is offering 10 per cent rebate to those depositing the tax before March 31.
