Are you one of those tender-hearted persons, who start cringing at the very sight of blood, high-packed violence or at the mere mention of anything related to the gory? Well, then, we suggest you must watch The Walking Dead. Yes, you heard that right! Watch it and dispel your hatred for the horror genre, just like a lot of initial sceptics-turned-ardent-followers of the show already have.
The series, set in a time when apocalypse strikes, shows a world where zombies are looming large. Rick Grimes, the Sherriff’s deputy, wakes up after a long spell of coma only to find himself surrounded by a lot of dead walkers (read zombies) as he tries to make sense of the absurd world. The American horror drama television series recently took home the Golden Globe Award for The Best Television Series- Drama and Writers Guild of America Award for New Series. So, whether or not this genre interests you, we are sure you will be hooked to this one soon before you realise!
Lights, camera...action
The Walking Dead premiered on October 31, 2010. The series has been renewed for an eighth season, which is scheduled to run during the latter part of the year.
We bet you didn’t know...
Gory and violent
Remember the horrific trailer that saw a zombie feed on a dead man’s heart with gallons of blood oozing out? Well, you guessed it right. The violent depictions did make a lot of people cringe.
What’s more, both, NBC and HBO asked the show’s makers to tone down all the gore and bloodshed so that viewers do not freak out. But come to think of it, a show on zombies, and no gory scenes? Wouldn’t that have been freaky, instead?
Culinary treats in disguise
Wondering where all the flesh-like things the zombies hog on comes from? It is ham soaked in vinegar. And all those rats that they feast on are nothing but gelatin and jelly. Maybe that’s why none of ‘the walking dead’ would mind gobbling it all up!
Keep off the zombies
Call it taking the reel life too far or just something that happened by chance, but it is not only on television that you see the ‘humans’ running away from the ‘walkers’ to save their lives. Even during the off-screen lunch breaks, the human cast would eat together while the entire zombie cast ate separately from them.
