Photography holds power - the power of universal language and vital conversation. There is almost nothing left to imagination, yet everything to interpretation. Well, almost. “I love to click and click nature for that matter. Things like the rising sun, bright moon, morning dew, blooming flowers, smiling face, twinkling stars, naughty kids and the like,” shares Priya Chander, Chandigarh-based fashion researcher, whose photograph was included in the Microphotography Collection and presented at a private reception hosted at Musee du Louvre, in Paris, earlier last month.

In Paris, works of photographers representing an impressive number of 191 countries were displayed together! How it all happened is pretty much a case of one thing led to the other. “I learnt photography during college and clicked random things. I clicked this flower during one of my morning walks,” she shares of the untitled flower sent for the competition. “I happen to be on SEE Me, an online portal of sorts, where they invited a few select photographs to send in their works. I happened to be one of them and sent two photographs.” One of which was, “A flower that looks like lotus but is not lotus.” She adds, “I did not even caption it,” shares the 34-year-old all inspired by the American photographer Ansel Adams. “I love his take on the art ,which can be summed up as ‘You Don’t Take a Photograph, You Make It.”

Meanwhile, there is a one-year-old trend research company, What Next—PC, to occupy times in between. “I have earlier been a fashion merchandiser for an expert house,’ shares the NIIFT, Mohali, pass-out. “But I try to use my photography as creative inputs for my research and trends analysis also.” And work comprises creatives across the board; fashion, art, design, textile, interior, knits, print, colour, lifestyle and more.

There is some more of photography lined up. “Oh yes, I would definitely love to click maple leaves. I think there is a story behind each one of them - their changing colours, which are reflective of changing seasons. And each change, whether fall or spring, is nature’s beauty at its best. But I’ll have to go out for that so just waiting for the right time,” she shares.
