He makes it a point to make a new song, new rhythm, new beats, new look of the video, and he applies the same funda to his films as well. A new actress as a co-star each time! Singer-actor Jassi Gill laughs out loud. “I didn’t actually think about it, and neither was it deliberate,” he twirls his long moustache, nodding at his friend and colleague, singer-actor Babbal Rai and the actress Sagarika Ghatge, looking ravishing in blue. The trio was in Chandigarh for the promotion of the film, Dildariyaan.

The film, directed by Pankaj Batra, also stars Binnu Dhillon and Gugu Gill. Jassi has just returned from a world music tour and was surprised to see the response Punjabi films and songs are getting throughout the world.

“It is not just Punjabis who are listening to Punjabi music. I have performed in such places where more than half of the crowd did not understand Punjabi, but they swayed to every beat and track,” he again looks at Babbal, who nods in complete approval. If you are wondering what brings this sweet, shy yet affable singer Babbal on this movie promotion tour, “this is a surprise,” Jassi and Babbal echo as Babbal adds, “The question of what I am doing in the film will be answered only if you see the film.”

Jassi is already flooded with movie offers, however, this young lad wants to wait and watch. “Let me see how Dildariyaan does. I will take my call only after this film.” Though he hasn’t zeroed-in on the role, he says, “I want to do something now; a role which has a degree of substance.” The singer doesn’t forget to thank his fans at every occasion. “You know why I do this…I never expected this kind of love from the audience. I never planned to be an actor, now the kind of love people shower on me is amazing,” says Jassi, who is soon coming up with a new wedding song.

As for the pretty delicate woman sitting by his side, Sagarika, it is the wait and watch moment. “My character in the film is unlike me — loud types. I am sure audiences will like it,” says the actress who is dressed traditionally in a blue anarkali. When in Punjab do what the Punjabis do! “Oh yes, I love this place, it has grown on me,” she runs her hand through here silken straight hair!
