Love blooms, amidst flowers

Romance is in the air: Sara and Sanjeev Juneja

A rose bud on the lapel, and wife dressed in matching palazzos. The Guptas have chosen to spend their 42nd wedding anniversary amidst the flowers. And why not, the Chrysanthemum Show at Terraced Garden offers a beautiful setting!

And the Guptas are one among the many couples, regardless of the years spent together, who are here to spend time breaking their monotonous routine.

Sanjeev Juneja, walking hand-in-hand with his beautiful wife Sara, offers an analogy, “Indian husbands have it hard. Keeping a wife happy is as gruelling as tending flowers; don’t nourish them with love and care and they wilt.” A look at Sara’s beaming face and you know he is doing his job well.

Leaving the couple alone, we head to nature lovers next. They are already making bets on what arrangement is going to the king of the show. There are different categories and government, private, amateurs have enthusiastically participated in it. And, their blooms are objects of admiration.

The mild sun makes this garden a haven of peace away from the daily hustle bustle. There are families, friends soaking in the nature’s beauty.

On the first day, the footfall is manageable and the spread out garden gives the visitors space to sit and relax. Shutterbugs are as ubiquitous here as chrysanthemums. Pictures from different angels are being clicked and need we say seamless selfies?

Aman Singh, a class 11th student, is happy clicking shots. “Where else do you see such beauty?” he takes a moment to inform.

Four-year-old Vihaan wouldn’t budge from next to Tokyo, a white bloom; his sister Simran has taken fancy to the flower named Jennifer as their mother tries unsuccessfully to fit them in one frame.  While rural scenes dominate the venue, Spiderman makes for a perfect picture spot for kids.

Though the walk around the show isn’t all that much but who can stop one from enjoying snacks. Neatly along the road, vendors are selling their stuff - golgappas, tikki, corns, burgers, ice-creams and, yes, many a carts display proudly...Paytm accepted here.

While the water fountains are another high of this garden, offering cool reprieve after all the walk and talk, we hope music selection would be better next time around.

Back to the Guptas. Seeing them giving some serious relationship goals to youngsters, we can’t help but ask their secret of their long innings, “We share life together and all its good times and bad and also mobile phone.” Makes sense as it does to check out this blooming show.
