Shah Rukh Khan, the king of romance, is here to wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day! Check out your nearest Archies gallery, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) musical jumbo cards are the best bet to impress your loved one. The card plays catchy dialogues and songs from the movie.
“Regular greeting cards are passé. DDLJ Musical Jumbo Valentine cards are selling like hot cakes. We are already out of stock,” observes NK Bajaj, franchisee owner, Archies, Chandigarh.
“Message bottles, couple mug sets, twin rotating photo-frames and couple teddies are other out-of-the-box items gaining popularity with youngsters this Valentine’s. The newly released message bottles are available for Rs 500, while musical cards are priced at Rs 1, 500,” he shares.
Personalised gifts
According to Diwakar Sahoonja, owner of Dewsun, Sector 11 D, Chandigarh, personalised greeting cards are ruling the roost this time. “We are flooded with orders from young couples to design customised greeting cards with their pictures and quotes. People are adding their personal touch to gifts rather than going with routine presents.” He said cushions with quirky quotes are also in vogue.
The small-sized cards are for Rs150 while the huge ones are for Rs300.
Spa special
Want to relieve your Valentine of the day’s stress? Many young couples feel gifting spa coupons to each other is a ‘nice way to relax and spend time together’.
Says Archit Sharma, Duty Manager at O2 Spa, Chandigarh, “Couples have liked our ongoing couple package ‘Precious Time Together’. Many have requested us to introduce couple room service for therapies.”
Flower power
Nothing spells romance better than red roses and they don’t even cost much, “Priced at Rs 20 per stick, these flowers remain the hot favourite with youngsters,” says Harry Gupta, owner of Gupta’s Green Valley Pvt Ltd, Sector 34, Chandigarh. Anil Bhatia, owner of Khoobsurat Florist- 34, shares, “A lot of youngsters are going in for Lotus Bamboo, which is a new item that we have introduced. Feng Shui is another item that is appealing to the love birds.” One can also make bookings to get flowers delivered at midnight!
Chocolate corner
If your Valentine has a sweet-tooth, you could present him or her with a hamper of chocolates. Bajaj says, “Chocolates in heart pouches are fast becoming popular.” The heart pouches are priced at Rs 200. “A customised combo gift pack can also be made according to need,” he adds.
Get booked
If your special someone is a voracious reader, present a lovely book! Says Pappu Kumar, Department Manager, Westside, “Flowers and other gifts will perish, but books are forever. Many young boys and girls are purchasing classic love stories for the special day. And the best part is that these books are light on the pocket.”
