When a man is out on a date (and this is equally true whether you’re with your wife) the one golden magical rule is to “make her feel special”. Doing little things with confidence goes a long way toward setting the right mood to make your companion feel special. Your date can focus completely on having a great time rather than on the things you aren’t doing.

Let me take you through a situation…There, you are with your wife, you are talking and having a great time. And then it happens, your eyes stop listening to you. She walks by, or sits at the next table or comes around a corner or steps out of a cab. Blessed with a good peripheral vision, you notice her. You can’t help but get distracted. Now, you are guilty of a crime, noticing other women, when you are with your significant other, which is a real mood killer.

Most women recognise that men are going to look at other women. But the key is not to let that stunning woman walking by, interfere with your focus on the woman you are with. So, say and do those things that give her the assurance that the man, her life revolves around, loves her and cares for her.

Let the rose speak

If you really want to express love and affection, nothing beats roses. They are great for that special someone in your life. But you don’t need to wait for a major occasion; you can simply make one up. “These are for you. I realized it’s been one month since I expressed my affection for you” can iron out all tiredness and emotional fatigue in a woman.

Door to her heart

Opening a door when entering and exiting a building is another considerate thing to do for your lady, or any lady for that matter. As you approach a door with your wife or date, step forward ever so slightly, open the door and hold it for her to enter before you. Confusion reigns over the revolving door. When ever confusion exists, the solution lies in communication. So, be prepared to make a quick decision as you’re approaching the door. If the door looks hard to move, so be the gentleman and offer to go through first or if the door is already moving, so be the gentleman and suggest that she goes first.

Side by side

When walking together, the convention is that the man walks on the outside unless you think it’s more appropriate for her safety’s sake, for you to walk on the inside.
