When does a celebrity truly earn the respect of his/her admirers? Not by acing a scene. Not even by cramming all the dialogues to perfection. But, by using their stardom the right way, by being socially-responsible enough to leave a positive impact on the world! So, when actress Gillian Anderson was approached to play a photographer in a film – Sold (slated for a digital release in January 2017) based on the heart-wrenching story of a 13-year-old girl who gets sold to a human sex trafficking ring in India, she decided to join a campaign to raise awareness about it (sex trafficking). But that is just one of the things that made her earn the admiration of her fans.
The actress, best known for her X-Files stint, is earning rave reviews for her performance in the crime-drama television series The Fall, which airs on BBC too! Apart from Anderson, the show stars Jamie Dornan and John Lynch in pivotal roles. And just like Anderson is in news for her noble campaign against child trafficking, her role in The Fall, which was initially mired in controversies continues to attract eyeballs aplenty now. The show, which traces how a police superintendent (Anderson) hunts down a serial killer on the loose, was initially criticised for ‘glamorising violence.’ But the first reaction of the audience soon changed, and just like Anderson, the show has been earning the admiration of viewers!

Facts less known Six string love
Call it the surfacing of Cubitt’s (the show’s writer) love for music, or just his admiration for the six string; we bet only a handful of you would have noticed that the names of the show’s lead characters are inspired from leading guitar companies Stella and Gibson.
Of innate links
Anderson shares an innate connect with the character Stella, which explains why, in one of her interviews she went out to say- “I like Stella a lot, I really like her. I understood her without being told.”

Responsible act
I adore Gillian not only for her brilliant acting, but more so for her keenness to highlight noble issues. She is one of those very few socially-responsible celebrities who contribute to the society!

Realistic touch
Though the show did not impress me in the first instance, I, like majority of the audience, soon warmed up to it. Don’t let the violence fool you, it is there to present the serial killer realistically.

It is an intense show which will keep you guessing what’s going to happen the very next moment!
