The administration of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) here allegedly bungled the recent allotment of houses to certain officials at the university. The university authorities allegedly approved a cancelled document containing the minutes of the House Allotment Committee (HAC) meeting. The said document was not even signed by the chairman of the committee. Taking a strong exception to the move, HAC chairman Prof Rajender Sharma has asked the Vice-Chancellor to cancel the proceedings immediately, failing which he would get an FIR lodged for forgery.

In a letter to the Vice-Chancellor, Sharma has maintained that three faculty members applied for allotment of houses on medical grounds at the HAC meeting held on October 19. Sharma pointed out that he found striking irregularities in the documented proceedings put up before him and got the same corrected. He cancelled the document containing wrongful information and also put his observations in the form of a brief note on the final set of papers.

However, the cancelled document was approved by the university authorities, on the basis of which houses were allotted to certain faculty members in violation of the seniority list. Apart from Prof Sharma, the MDU faculty members who were not allotted the houses despite their seniority have also written to the university administration to review the decision, failing which they would approach the higher authorities.
