Union Minister Vankaiah Naidu on Friday said the Centre had accepted Haryana’s request for including Gurugram in the Smart City project. But at the same time, he clarified that the state government had agreed to bear the cost and the Centre would provide only technical support for it.
Naidu, who was in Chandigarh to review the implementation of projects of the Ministries of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (HUPA) and Information and Broadcasting in Haryana, was unhappy with the tardy implementation of certain projects.
Naidu said the BJP government at the Centre did not believe in discrimination with different states on political basis, but it believed in cooperation.
Answering a question on the SYL, the minister said though such issues could not be resolved at press conferences, the Centre would definitely take into consideration Haryana’s interests.
Naidu hit out at the opposition parties for what he called their negativity on all issues and said they should sense the mood of people and support the government’s development agenda.
