...likely to be low-key affair

ROHTAK: ‘Balidan Divas’ functions in the district’s Jassia village and at other places across the state are likely to be a low-key affair, primarily because of the agreement between the state government and the All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) recently.

Rohtak, February 17

‘Balidan Divas’ functions in the district’s Jassia village and at other places across the state are likely to be a low-key affair, primarily because of the agreement between the state government and the All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) recently.

Recent happenings indicate several leaders and supporters of the AIJASS are unhappy with the agreement and may distance themselves from its activities. On the other hand, the samiti’s leadership seems to be in a wait-and-watch mode for the time being.

As per intelligence sources, followers of controversial saint Rampal, who have been attending events organised by the AIJASS in large numbers, are also likely to stay away this time, thanks to tacit understanding with the state leadership. Nonetheless, the state authorities are on their toes to maintain law.

The AIJASS had earlier given an ultimatum to the state government to fulfil its pending demands till February 18, failing which the agitation would be re-launched. However, an agreement was reached between the government and the AIJASS in Delhi recently. — TNS
