Nearly 1,758 government elementary and trained graduate teachers across the state have not yet updated their caste information as well as complete service record on the portal of the Human Resource Management System (HRMS) despite subsequent reminders.

Taking serious note of non-compliance of the state government’s order, the Department of Education had directed all Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) to ensure the update of the caste information as well as the data of their service records by January 15 in respect of all regular employees working under their jurisdictions, said sources.

The sources maintained that the department had also warned that on failure, the teachers would be personally responsible for departmental action. Even, their salaries would be withheld.

The Director, Secondary Education, Panchkula, had sent a communique in this regard to all District Education Officers (DEOs) and District Elementary Education Officers.

“The caste information of 1,357 elementary and 401 secondary teachers is still pending. Moreover, service records of 97,773 out of 1,23,274 employees (48,701 elementary and 49,072 secondary) have not yet been finalised by the DDOs concerned,” states the communique.

The sources said the state government had on September 20 last year, directed all departments/boards/ corporations to provide information of caste data of all employees under their control. As per direction, the employees are to submit a self-declaration in respect of his/her caste. The information then would be updated on the HRMS portal through the DDOs concerned.

“The government has already sent two reminders on October 16 and October 26 last year for the information, but a considerable number of employees of various departments/ boards/corporation/autonomous units have not yet supplied the sought information,” the sources added.

Dharambir Balrodia, DEO, Rewari, said they had submitted the caste data of all teachers posted in the district over a month ago. “The information of those teachers whose data has not been updated due to any reason will be submitted again,” he added.
