Rohtak, June 21
The police have registered a case of sexual harassment against a stationery distributor and an examination superintendent on a complaint by a final-year student of B Pharmacy at the College of Pharmacy under the University of Health Sciences (UHS) here.
The girl, in her complaint, has stated that she stays at the Girls Hostel No. 2 at the local PGIMS. She had topped her college during the first three years. “A false case of using unfair means (UMC) during the biopharmaceutics exam held on June 14 was registered against me. The exam superintendent asked me to meet a stationery distributor after the exam. When I went to meet the stationery distributor, he molested me and sought sexual favour. I, somehow, managed to run away. On June 16, I got a call from him on my mobile phone and he asked me to meet him again, but I did not go,” she stated.
The police have registered an FIR under Sections 354 A, 354 D and 120 B of the IPC against stationery distributor Harpal and exam superintendent Devender on her complaint. However, the student has alleged that neither the police nor the university authorities have taken any concrete action on her complaint.
Dr Gajendra Singh, Principal of the College of Pharmacy, said he had conveyed the matter to the PGIMS/UHS authorities and urged them to take appropriate action and provide additional security at the girls hostels. — TNS
