2 held for lawyer’s murder

PANIPAT:The police arrested two persons in connection with the murder of advocate Kanwar Bhan Arya, a resident of Samalkha, on Friday night.

The police arrested two persons in connection with the murder of advocate Kanwar Bhan Arya, a resident of Samalkha, on Friday night. The police on Saturday produced them before a court that sent one of them to seven-day police remand, while the other to judicial custody.    

Meanwhile, Arya's relatives performed his last rites under police security on Saturday. Naresh Ahlawat, Samalkha DSP, said, accused Ankur, a resident of Samalkha, was arrested from the Chautala road, near Sewah village, while Birender, a resident of Naraina village, was arrested for allegedly sheltering the former. ASI Yogesh Kumari, in charge, women desk, along with a police team produced them before a court that sent Ankur to seven days in police custody and Birender to judicial custody, the DSP said. 

Arya was murdered near Punjabi Mohalla while he was on the way to court on Wednesday morning. — TNS
