Faridabad, June 18
The police have arrested three youths, all hailing from Uttar Pradesh (UP), for carjacking about 10 days ago.
The accused have been identified as Rajkumar, alias Raju, Rinku and Sudhir, alias Kanna, who belong to Etawah and Aruaiya districts of Uttar Pradesh. They had hired a Mahindra Scorpio SUV from a taxi operator in Sector 55 claiming to be Railway officials. They took the vehicle to Uttar Pradesh. At Mathura, they threw out the driver and fled with the vehicle.
The accused, who were remanded in six-day police custody on Monday, confessed to their involvement in around 30 similar incidents. They used to dispose of the looted vehicles in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. One of the accused is facing over 12 cases, including murder.
