The police have arrested four persons for allegedly defrauding a local farmer of about Rs 80 lakh. The arrested persons had allegedly posed as ‘godmen’ (tantrik) and promised the farmer of getting him a treasure buried in his fields.
Veerbhan, a farmer of Baliyana village in the district, had lodged a complaint with the police in this regard. He had stated that his land measuring 12 acres had been acquired by the state government in 2009, for which he got around Rs 2.75 crore.
The farmer said he bought 10 acres of land and two plots for Rs 2 crore, while the remaining amount was in his bank account.
However, some youths posing as godmen took Rs 80 lakh from him on the lure of unearthing a treasure hidden in his fields.
Acting on his complaint, the police arrested the kingpin of the gang, Lalit, of Rajaldesar village in Churu district of Rajasthan, and his accomplices Karan of Pahari village in Bhiwani district, Anil of Kairu village in Bhiwani district and Narender of Singhwa village in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan.
