A joint team of Yamunanagar police and Government Railway Police (GRP) on Sunday arrested six persons in connection with the loot from passengers in three bogies of Chandigarh-Patliputra Superfast Express.
According to a press release issued by the Superintendent of Police, GRP, Ambala, the joint team arrested six residents of Tirth Nagar of Yamunanagar and recovered two mobile phones snatched from the passengers from them.
The press release further reads that the arrested persons would be produced in the court tomorrow and sought their police remand from the court.
A group of 10-12 robbers had looted cash, mobiles, ornaments and other valuables from passengers of Chandigarh-Patliputra Superfast Express after pulling the chain near Kalanaur railway station of Yamunanagar district on Friday morning.
According to information, the crime was committed, when the train was plying between Pansara railway level crossing and Kalanaur railway station, situated on Haryana-UP boarder at 3.53 am.
The miscreants pulled the chain two or three times. They were 10-12 in numbers and looted three passengers in bogie number B-4, three passengers in A- 2 and one passenger in bogie number B-1.
“The miscreants took away cash, jewellery, 10 mobile sets and other valuables from the passengers,” said Ramesh Kumar, in charge RPF post, Yamunanagar.
The whole episode lasted about 20 minutes and the list of the affected persons could be higher.
