ACS inspects grain markets

AMBALA: Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of Mines and Geology Department AK Singh on Tuesday visited Ambala City and Cantonment grain markets and directed the officials to ensure timely payment of procured crop.

Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of Mines and Geology Department AK Singh on Tuesday visited Ambala City and Cantonment grain markets and directed the officials to ensure timely payment of procured crop.

Singh said that as per government’s instructions, the farmers should be paid the payment within 72 hours and the officers must ensure that there was no unnecessary delay in payment.

He also instructed the officials to speed up the lifting process and ensure the safety of the stocked wheat. Singh inspected the facility of drinking water and toilets for farmers.

On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Sharandeep Kaur said that the work of wheat harvesting in the district was in the final stage and more than 85 per cent of the total produce had arrived in the markets so far. She said till Monday, 2,79,215 tonne of wheat had arrived across different grain markets and procurement centers of the district. — TNS
