Karnal, June 21
In support of their demands, farmers under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) today celebrated International Yoga Day by performing ‘hath yoga’ on the Meerut Road near Nagla village.
Earlier, they took out a protest march and staged a dharna on the road. DSP Raj Kumar and BDPO Sumit Kumar tried to pacify the protesters, but they were adamant to perform ‘hath yoga’. Two days ago, the BKU made an announcement to observe ‘hath yoga’ and sought a meeting with the CM and Agriculture Minister OP Dhankar. The administration assured them of a meeting with the CM on June 30.
Meanwhile, leading the protest, Rattan Mann, BKU state president, said since the government had invited them for talks, so they observed a symbolic protest by holding ‘hath yoga’. —TNS
