Rewari, February 14
The AIIMS Sangharsh Samiti on Wednesday called off its indefinite dharna after 136 days by holding a public meeting in Kund town here. Members were demanding the laying of foundation stone of the ambitious AIIMS project.
Advocate Rajender Singh, spokesman of the samiti, said they had ended the protest as Prime Minister Narendra Modi would come to lay the foundation stone of the project on February 16.
He said their demands to get the OPD services and bachelor of medicine, bachelor of surgery (MBBS) courses started under the project were not yet fulfilled. Hence, they have called a jan panchayat in Kund on February 19 to decide the further course of action to get these demands fulfilled, he added.
Sheotaj Singh, president of the samiti, said they were hopeful that PM Modi would announce to fulfil these demands. “We will participate in the foundation laying ceremony with full enthusiasm,” he added.
