Arjuna Awardee boxer and Inspector Jai Bhagwan was suspended for demanding a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a trader in Adampur town.
A police spokesperson said SP Satender Gupta suspended Jai Bhagwan today. DSP Jaipal Singh is inquiring into the allegations against the SHO.
The SP had also transferred Jai Bhagwan to the Police Lines after an Adampur trader, Mukesh Goyal, alleged the SHO came to his shop on August 31 and took his younger brother, Ravi and four others, in custody under the Gambling Act.
