Chandigarh, April 23
An Army man allegedly gunned down his mother-in-law and another woman member of her family after an altercation in Gorakhpur village of Fatehabad on Monday.
Fatehabad SP Deepak Saharan said accused Devender Singh surrendered after the shootout. The accused, a resident of Hisar, went to bring his wife Sunita from her parents’ house in Gorakhpur.
After an altercation over some issue, the Army man allegedly took out his pistol and gunned down his mother-in-law Manpati and relative Kela Devi. Later, he asked all members of the family to go out and locked himself with his wife in a room. He fired shots whenever someone tried to enter the house.
He kept his wife and the two injured women captive for almost three hours before the police reached there and convinced him to surrender. The two women had died by then.—TNS
