Assam woman rescued from Hisar village

HISAR: The police today rescued a migrant woman from a house and registered a case against three persons for rape, exploitation and human trafficking in Adampur village of the district.

The police today rescued a migrant woman from a house and registered a case against three persons for rape, exploitation and human trafficking in Adampur village of the district.

The 21-year-old woman from Udalguri district of Assam had been kept in confinement at a house in the village for the past three days.

The police today registered a case against Dinesh, his wife Pooja and Madan under Sections 376 (rape), 370 (buying or disposing of person as slave) 370-A (exploitation of trafficked person), 343 (wrongful confinement ), 323 (assault) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

The police said the woman got an opportunity to sneak out of the room and sought the help of some neighours, who approached the police with information about her. The police raided the premises and rescued her.

The woman revealed that Farooq and Aarif took from her house in Assam to Delhi on September 17 on the pretext of getting her a job. She said the youths sold her to a Delhi resident for Rs 30,000.

The police said the Adampur residents bought her from the Delhi youth on October 3 for Rs 80,000. The woman said she was locked in a room, raped and beaten up.

She said she had overheard Dinesh talking to someone over phone about a deal to sell her to a hotel owner for Rs 1.15 lakh.

She reached the roof of the house and asked a neighbour for help. The good Samaritan helped her talk to her family in Assam and informed the police. SHO Pawan Kumar said the police rescued the woman and registered a case.

He said the police were investigating the case and efforts were on to arrest the accused. The woman was taken to a shelter home after medical examination.
