Soon after reports of the gruesome murder of three young siblings were splashed on television channels this morning, an uneasy calm struck this Kurukshetra village.

Suman, mother of victims Sameer (11), Simran (8) and Samar (4), was not informed until the evening about her children having been shot dead.

She was told by her relatives that the three children, who were missing since Sunday from Sarsa, about 20 km from Kurukshetra, had been found.

“The police are suspecting Suman’s husband Sonu and his cousin Jagdeep Malik to be behind the crime. We are finding it tough to share this shocking news with her as it will be tough for her to bear the shock,” said a villager near their house.

Relatives and villagers formed a human chain in front the house and barred mediapersons from contacting Suman.

“The entire village knows the truth, but no one can muster the courage to tell Suman about the tragic end. We do not want anyone to tell her about it yet. We are just buying time with prayers,” said an elderly villager.

The houses of Sonu and Jagdeep are located on the same street. Sonu is a professional photographer operating from Kaithal and Jagdeep is a marginal farmer.

Abhishek Garg, SP, said Sonu had an extra-marital affair and connived with Jagdeep to kill his children. Following Jagdeep’s inputs, the Kurukshetra police located the bodies in the Morni hills of Panchkula district this morning, he said.

“Our investigators got an input about the suspected conduct of the duo. During questioning, Jagdeep admitted killing the children in Morni with a gun and dumping the bodies in the forest. Jagdeep has been arrested and Sonu is under police detention,” said the SP.

After committing the crime, the duo claimed that the children could have been kidnapped or gone missing in the Brahma Sarovar fair.
