Aasan (Rohtak), December 2

The family of three youths, accused of molesting Rohtak sisters aboard a Haryana Roadways bus, today claimed that the complaint against the boys was false.

On a visit to Aasan village in Rohtak district, sarpanch and other villagers supported the youths — Kuldeep, Deepak and Mohit.

Aasan sarpanch Raj Singh told The Tribune that the three youths possessed good character, and the village stood behind them and their families. He sought an impartial investigation into the episode and urged the state government to reconsider its decision of honouring the two sisters who had lodged the complaint.

Kuldeep’s aunt Sushila said that Kuldeep had brought the bus ticket and seat number for an elderly and ailing woman. “The seat allotted to the woman was occupied by Pooja and Aarti. Kuldeep asked them to vacate the seat for the elderly woman and this triggered the quarrel,” she claimed.

Kuldeep, who is the only brother of five sisters and son of an ex-serviceman, had cleared physical test for entry to the Army. His elder sister, Anita, broke down as she asserted that her brother was innocent.

At Mohit’s house, his mother Meena and brother Lalit said he was innocent and was being framed.

Villagers Jaipal, Samunder, Satbir, Suresh, Ramail and Dayawati asserted that the allegations of molestation were baseless. They met Rohtak SP Shashank Anand, who asked the villagers to furnish evidence of innocence of the youths.

“Injustice will not be done to anybody. DSP Yashpal Khatana has been directed to look into the matter,” Anand said.

Meanwhile, Bimla of Garhi Sisana village, who claimed to be a co-passenger on the roadways bus, told the media in Rohtak today that there the youths did not molest the sisters. “A quarrel broke out when the youths asked the girls to vacate a seat for an elderly woman,” she said.

The family of the three youths dismissed another video, showing the sisters thrashing a youth in a Rohtak park, as a tactic to blackmail them.
