Bus mows down woman in Karnal; villagers block highway

Karnal, September 20

A woman was killed after a Delhi depot bus hit a motorbike from behind near Uchana village here on Wednesday.

Jamna Devi, of Shamgarh village, was returning back to her village from Karnal with her husband. When they reached near Uchana village, the bus hit their bike from behind and crushed her to death. The bus driver fled, leaving the bus behind.

Infuriated residents of Uchana and surrounding villages blocked the highway. They also ransacked the bus. Several vehicles were seen in queues and police rushed to spot to tackle the situation.

Residents are demanding the arrest of the bus driver. SHO Sadar Manoj Kumar is trying to pacify the residents but they are still adamant on their demand and are not lifting the blockade.
