Chandigarh, April 23

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has requested Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu to introduce a direct train from Bhiwani to Haridwar at the earliest. He also requested him for stoppage of Kisan Express train at Bawani Khera in Bhiwani district.

In two separate demi-official letters addressed to the Union Railway Minister, Khattar has drawn his attention to the problem being faced by the people of Bhiwani and its adjoining areas in visiting Haridwar. He said that at present there was no direct connectivity by rail from Bhiwani to Haridwar. Both the current available routes between these two cities were indirect; the first via New Delhi and the second via Ambala. Therefore, considering the huge demand of the people, a direct train from Bhiwani to Haridwar should be started at the earliest, he added.

The CM said that the Kisan Express (train No. 14519/14520) runs between old Delhi Junction and Bathinda Junction and passes through Bahadurgarh-Rohtak-Bhiwani-Hansi-Hisar-Sirsa-Bathinda. He requested the Union Railways Minister to give directions to the concerned officers for stoppage of the Kisan Express at Bawani Kheri so that the long pending demand of the people could be fulfilled.
