CM launches nation’s first elevated rail track

ROHTAK: Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today formally launched the country’s first elevated railway track project here. The 6-km track costing about Rs 315 crore, slated to be completed in 18 months, will come up on the Rohtak-Panipat line.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today formally launched the country’s first elevated railway track project here. The 6-km track costing about Rs 315 crore, slated to be completed in 18 months, will come up on the Rohtak-Panipat line.

A road would be constructed in place of the existing railway track. The Chief Minister announced to give Rs 8 crore to the Railway Board for its construction.

“The road is being constructed below the elevated railway track. Another road will be constructed above the elevated track if required,” Khattar said while addressing a gathering after performing the ‘bhumi pujan’ ceremony for the elevated track.

The Chief Minister remarked that land was acquired illegally with ulterior motives and corrupt practices were followed with impunity in the acquisition process during tenures of the previous governments in Haryana.

He maintained that the present BJP regime in the state was committed to ensure the provision of maximum facilities to the residents within the minimum possible land area.

Local BJP MLA and Cooperation Minister Manish Grover thanked the Chief Minister for the project. Railway Chief Engineer Ved Prakash Dudeja, Deputy Chief Engineer Mona Shrivastav, Rohtak Deputy Commissioner Yash Garg, SP Pankaj Nain and SDM Arvind Malhan were present on the occasion.

Later, addressing annual convention of the Haryana Union of Working Journalists, the Chief Minister announced that the Ayushman Bharat Yojana of the Central Government would be expanded in the state to bring dependents of journalists and other residents of Haryana under the ambit of health services. Besides, Journalists’ Accreditation Committee would be constituted.Khattar also inaugurated a community centre named after Madan Lal Dhingra and unveiled the martyr’s statue. Dhingra had sacrificed his life for the country during the freedom struggle at the age of 22.

He said the community centre named after Dhingra had been constructed on 2 acres at a cost of Rs 7 crore to inspire the youth.
