Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said the state would receive an investment of Rs 10,000 crore and employment opportunities for 40,000 people would be generated as a result of various agreements signed between the government and companies of the US and Canada.

The Chief Minister recently led a business delegation to the US and Canada to attract prospective investors to the state.

Khattar told the media Rs 5,000 crore would be invested in the food processing industry, opening avenues of growth for agriculture and allied sectors. “The state has signed MoUs with five leading companies — Google, CISCO, United Technologies, Applied Materials and Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology,” he said.

The Chief Minister described his visit as “highly successful” and said the state would hold an investment summit “Happening Haryana” in January in Gurgaon. “During my interaction, I sensed that investors’ interest in China is waning. They are looking at India. We will invite them for the programme and explore opportunities,” he said, adding the incentives offered under the Enterprises Promotion Policy 2015 had enthused investors.

The focus of the visit was on three key areas of the Centre — Make in India, Skill India and Digital India, the Chief Minister said.

During an interaction with the Indian diaspora in New York, Khattar urged NRIs to adopt Sweh Prerit Yojana and contribute to the development of their ancestral villages in Haryana. “About 30 per cent of NRIs have assured him to adopt their villages in Haryana.”

Khattar said an entrepreneur in the US told him a delegation during the previous government signed an MoU but did not pursue it after the delegation returned to India. “Let former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda give us a list of investments his government did not pursue. We will pursue the investments,” he added.
