CM says no to withdrawal of cases referred to CBI

In a major jolt to the Jat protesters, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar categorically said that the state government could not withdraw those criminal cases which had either been referred to the CBI or registered under serious sections of the IPC.

Khattar was interacting with mediapersons after laying the foundation stone of College of Agriculture in Bawal town of the district today. He said the government was ready to resolve the issue within the framework of law, but it could not withdraw all cases registered during the Jat quota violence in February last year.

“Withdrawal of the cases transferred to the CBI is not in the hands of the state government while those booked under serious sections of the IPC will not be withdrawn. However, the government has already promised to withdraw petty cases registered under mild sections of the IPC,” he said.

Earlier, the Chief Minister laid and inaugurated nine development projects worth Rs 257 crore. Union Minister Rao Inderjit, state ministers Om Prakash Dhankar and Banwari Lal were also present on the occasion.
