Leader of Opposition Abhay Singh Chautala today claimed that 188 famers had committed suicide in the state after suffering heavy crop losses and blamed the BJP government for neglecting the interests of the farmers.
He was addressing a meeting of INLD workers to mobilize people for attending the November 1 Samman Divas rally at Rohtak. “Instead of helping the affected families, the government kept quiet. People are now recalling the days of Devi Lal and Om Prakash Chautala when farmers were always the top priority.
He said that people from every section of the society were fed up from the government and were feeling cheated as the BJP had not fulfilled any poll promise. “This government is being steered by bureaucrats and is evident from the steep hike in power charges,” he alleged.
Chautala said the common man and small traders were living under the shadow of the anti-social elements.
