Aashika Jain (23) of Ambala Cantonment got the 74th rank in her maiden attempt at the Civil Services Exam.

Belonging to a lawyers’ family of Ambala, Aashika studied in Convent of Jesus & Mary, Chaman Vatika, Ambala, and Carmel Convent, Chandigarh. Among the toppers in the All-India Law Entrance Examination, she got admission to the National Law University, New Delhi.

After passing BA LL.B. (Hons.), she started practising Law with her father, Ajay Jain, in the Punjab & Haryana High Court. She is inspired by the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao abhiyan and Clean India Movement initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said she would work for the elimination of dowry and female foeticide.

Another successful candidate of Ambala, Amandeep Kaur, ranked 259th in the Civil Services Examination. She was motivated by her brother to take this prestigious exam. One could achieve any goal by hard work and commitment, she said.

Farmer’s son overcomes physical disability

Hisar: A farmer’s son and differently abled due to polio attack, Sandeep Kundu, belonging to Faridpur village who made it to the civil services securing 1198th rank with sheer hard work. Affected by polio in childhood, Sandeep(35) has been a bright student right from the beginning. he started preparing for the civil services exam after he landed a teacher’s job in Delhi in December, 2011. Ranked at 1198, he hoped he would be in the IAS next time, said Sandeep, who is married and father of a two-year-old child. Sandeep is a cousin of mountaineer Anita Kundu. Besides Kundu , two MBBS doctors belonging to Hisar district have also made it to the list of the successful candidates. Dr Anshu Yadav(32), daughter of Dr Attar Singh Yadav, a scientist at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University, has got the 947the rank while Dr Amit Yadav(26) of Rajpura village near Hansi has got the 1014th rank.

Six Bhiwani boys crack Civil Services Exam

Bhiwani: Six boys of this district, including four from Charkhi-Dadri town, made it to the civil services. Saurabh Swami, an engineer and a resident of Heera Chowk here, has secured the 149th rank while Ankit Aggarwal of Chidimar Mohalla of the town, currently posted as a Medical Officer in the government sector, has bagged the 262nd rank. Ankit credits his success to hard work.

Nitin Sangwan, a resident of Loharu road in Dadri town, has secured the 359 th rank in his third attempt while Parmod Sheoran of the same locality, has bagged the 364 rank.

Pushpender Singh of Indira Colony here has secured the 629th rank while Pradeep Rohilla of Dadri town has got the 889th position.

Seven do Sonepat district proud

Sonepat: Seven youths, including two girls, from this district had made it to the civil services this year. Prabhat Malik, IIT, Kanpur, graduate (68th rank) is currently a member of the Indian Revenue Service. His father, Mohinder Singh Malik is serving as District Forest Officer at Gurgaon and mother Dr Sunita Malik is a professor in English at DSD College, Gurgaon.

Satpal Khatri of Khewra village and a post-graduate in psychology from Panjab University, Chandigarh, got the 204th rank in his third attempt. Naman Goyal of Gohana has got the 205th rank while Garima Mathur, a resident of Uttam Nagar here, has got the 217th rank in her second attempt this year. Garima is a science postgraduate from the IIT, Mumbai. Rubal Saroha, a resident of HUDA’s Sector 23 here, who got the 470th rank aimed at improving her rank.

Yashvir Khatri, a technical graduate and a resident of Jatwara village, got the 521st rank in his first attempt this year. Not fully satisfied with this ranking, he said that he would try to improve his rank next year.

Prince Luthra who got the 570th rank in his first attempt said: “Though my family members are happy with my performance; I will try to improve my rank in the next civil services examination,”

Three from Karnal secure place in UPSC list

Karnal: Three youth, including two girls, have brought laurels to Karnal by making it to the premier civil services. They include Deepak Bansal of Bajaj Colony, Gharaunda(113rd position) and Urvashi Mandhan of Sector 8 here (293rd rank in her second attempt). She did her B.Tech in computer engineering from JMIT, Radaur.

Rippen Dulat of Dinger Majra village in Gharaunda segment secured the 710th position after completing her B.Tech.
