Chandigarh, January 16
Haryana Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Karan Dev Kamboj has said that a pilot project would be launched in Barara and Naraingarh blocks of Ambala district under which fortified wheat flour would be distributed in association with HAFED to tackle malnutrition in women and children.
The minister said Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had approved a proposal to this effect. HAFED had been directed to increase the capacity of its flour mill.
Kamboj said e-PDS software had been in use since January 1 for smooth implementation of the public distribution system. The use of this software did not require internet connectivity and consumers could get ration just by registering their thumbprints.
The minister said the state would be made kerosene-free by providing cooking gas connections to all BPL families under the Pradhanmantri Ujjwala Yojana by March 31.
