People in the northern plains on Monday received slight respite from biting cold wave conditions as the minimum temperature rose by a few notches even as some cities in the state received light showers

Ambala, which received light showers, recorded a low of 11.7°C, up five notches against normal. Hisar's minimum settled at 9.4°C, up three degrees while Karnal registered a low of 9.8°C

Among other places which received rain included Panchkula, Jind, Kaithal and Sirsa. The met department has predicted dense fog and hailstorm at isolated places in the state
