Yudhvir Singh, a student of VN Senior Secondary School, Rania, in Sirsa district, has topped the Class-10 exam of the Haryana Board of School Education by scoring 499 out of 500 marks. The overall pass percentage stood at 50.49%.

HBSE chairman Jagbir Singh on Monday said due to a technical error there was a “goof-up” in compilation of the results, but that was rectified and a revised merit list was issued. He said the Board calculated the results of best of five subjects though each student had appeared in six papers.

A total of 1,023 students have secured 100 out of 100 marks in any of the given subjects but the automated system of computer did not count these marks. It led to error in compilation of results, he added.

Monika Rani, a student of Senior Model High School in Bhirdana village in Fatehabad, who was declared first earlier, is ranked fifth in the revised merit list.

The Board official said the overall pass percentage stood at 50.49 per cent.

Out of 3,15,900 students who appeared in the examination, 1,59,490 students have been declared passed while 1,39,672 students have failed.

A total of 16,738 students have got compartments and would have to reappear in the supplementary examination.
