Miffed over the non-registration of an FIR against the accused who had allegedly murdered a girl and then dumped her body in a pond, the panchayat of Sultanpur village in Gurgaon today met the Dadri SDM and sought immediate arrest of the accused.
Sultanpur village sarpanch Sunil Kumar, who led the panchayat team, said Poonam, who was married at Bond Kalan village here, was murdered and her body was later recovered from a village pond.
“Instead of arresting the accused, the police did not care even to lodge an FIR and the panchayat had to come to take up the issue with the district administration”, said Mahender Singh, the victim’s father.
He said that he married off his daughter Poonam to Kuldeep Kumar, a resident of Bond Kalan, two years ago. “My son-in-law Kuldeep’s family members were harassing my daughter for bringing more dowry, and they eliminated her on April 25”, he alleged. He demanded a thorough probe into the incident.
Dadri SDM Bijender Hooda assured the panchayat members that due action would be taken in the case. He ordered DSP Suresh Kumar to register an FIR against the accused.
