The government has notified the Haryana Silicosis Rehabilitation Policy for treatment, compensation, rehabilitation and to undertake other welfare measures for workers affected by silicosis, a dreadful occupational lung disease. Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nayab Singh Saini said here on Monday that any worker confirmed as suffering from silicosis by the Silicosis Diagnosis Board, Haryana, shall be covered under this policy, which was applicable only to those working in factories and at construction sites. In Haryana, silicosis is a notifiable disease under The Factories Act, 1948, and The Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996. TNS

The Haryana Government has decided to fill 263 posts of Sub-Inspector of Police, including 200 males and 63 females, by direct recruitment through the Haryana Staff Selection Commission. While stating this here on Monday, an official spokesman said Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had approved a proposal in this regard. TNS
