Kaithal, January 11

A woman administered poison to her two children before consuming herself here yesterday.

Other family members rushed the trio to a local hospital where the woman, Sunita (28), and her two-year-old son Rahul died. Her four-year-old daughter Payal was in a crtical condition and struggling for her life.

Following a complaint lodged by the woman’s father, the police have registered a case against her husband Naresh and other family members.

The complainant, Kashmiri Lal, a resident of Alwar in Rajasthan, stated that he married his daughter Sunita to Naresh of Nanak Puri Colony in Kaithal about six years ago. He alleged that his son-in-law was involved in cases of molestation, robbery etc. Naresh, a Taxi driver, harassed and tortured his daughter and also demanded more dowry, Kashmiri Lal alleged. He said he extended monetary help to Naresh on a number of occasions and had even gifted him a motorcycle, but he continued to harass Sunita.
