Youth dies in mishap, kin block road

Members of the Balmiki community resorted to a traffic blockade in Rajound town of Kaithal district today to protest the death of a youth in a road accident last night and the alleged delay in police action .

The protesters squatted on Pundri Chowk and three other places to disrupt traffic. A large number of vehicles remained stranded for over three hours. Tehsildar Rajbir Singh and SHO Ram Kuma tried in vain to persuade the protesters to lift the blockade . DSP Joginder Singh later promised quick action in the matter after which the protesters agreed to lift the blockade.

Councillor Sultan Singh said his brother Sham Singh’s body had been found in a ditch in a field near the Rajound – Kaithal road. It was later known that two youths of Kheri Sharf Ali were allegedly involved in the incident but the police did not arrest them. Rajound SHO said Ram Kumar said a case had been registered.
