Congress protest over farm issues

Ambala, October 10

Congress workers led by former minister Nirmal Singh today protested against the BJP government over farmers’ issues at the Mini Secretariat in Ambala City. They submitted a memorandum to City Magistrate Pratima Chaudhary for the Governor.

Kin of Mewa Singh, a farmer from Bhurangpur village, who committed suicide recently due to huge debts, were also present.

Nirmal Singh said: “Farmers have been committing suicide due to heavy debts but the government hasn’t taken any positive step in their favour. The government should announce compensation for Mewa Singh’s kin and waive their entire farm loan. — TNS
