Chandigarh, May 22
The first construction and demolition waste processing plant of Haryana will be set up in Basai village of Gurugram at a cost of about Rs 13 crore to make the city debris-free. The plant would have the capacity to process 300 tonnes of waste per day.
An official spokesman said the plant would be constructed and operated by IL and FS Company, which has assured to start production in the plant by year-end .
He said the Municipal Corporation would earmark different sites for dumping of construction and demolition waste. The company would lift the debris from these places and bring it to the plant, where it would be used for making cement bricks, block tiles, tiles and other products. He said construction and demolition waste was currently being dumped on roadside, which resulted in blockage of drains, besides air and water pollution. —TNS
