Mahendragarh, April 6

An organised sex determination racket is flourishing in the border area of Rajasthan adjacent to Mahendragarh district.

Those involved in the racket receive ‘customers’ through their Haryana touts and perform gender determination test at a remote place during night. They charge between Rs15,000 and Rs25,000 from each customer.

This is the observation made by the district health authority after unearthing two Rajasthan-based centres during the past two months.

Ashwani Rohila, Deputy Civil Surgeon, Narnaul, said Rajasthan’s Neemrana, Patan, Behrod, Kotputli, Sighana, Suratgarh, Nihalgarh villages were fast emerging as a hub for sex determination tests at night.

“The involved in the racket don’t disclose the exact address of the sex determination centre and call customers at different places. They remain in touch with their customers over the phone and guide them. In the process, the customers usually reach the destination late in the evening,” said Rohila.

He said his team had to cover 200 km for unearthing such a racket in Patan village of Rajasthan on February 14.
