Crop loss: Two more farmers die

SONEPAT: Two farmers from the district reportedly died due to damage to their crops caused by rain and hailstorm.

Two farmers from the district reportedly died due to damage to their crops caused by rain and hailstorm. The victims were identified as Rajbir (55) and Satbir (63).

Rajbir of Juan village suffered a cardiac arrest after seeing extensive damage to his wheat crop while harvesting his field last evening. He was rushed to a women’s medical college, Khanpur Kalan, where doctors declared him brought dead.

His brother said Rajbir had sown wheat on 8 acres, including 6 acres taken on lease. He had loan from banks.

Satbir was found dead in his field in Busana village yesterday. He reportedly died of heart attack after noticing damage to his wheat crop.

The victim’s son, Balraj, said his father used to remain tense after the crop was damaged in rain and hailstorm. “My father did not return from the field till evening and he did not respond to calls on his mobile phone,” he said.

Satbir had cultivated 12 acres, including 10 acres on lease.

A farmer from Katwal village and another from Rewara village had died after seeing damage to their crops.
