A Delhi-based professor has returned the excess Travelling Allowance (TA) of Rs 2,000 to Indira Gandhi University at Meerpur in the district after 34 months. The professor had allegedly availed of double TA for the same car for participating in a seminar at the university along with his professor wife.

This came to light some months ago when information was obtained under the RTI Act about the payment of the TA bills paid by the university for the seminar held in 2014.

On the basis of the information, Gaurav Dalal, a former assistant professor of the university, had lodged a complaint at the CM Window and sought probe into the matter.

Abhay Dahinwal, finance officer at the university, confirmed that the professor had recently deposited the excess amount after being communicated by the department.
