Panipat, December 20

There is no need to worry about the pages missing from a file linked to the DLF-Robert Vadra deal. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said this in an informal chat with mediapersons during his maiden visit to Panipat on Saturday.

Responding to queries on the sidelines of a “khulla durbar” at the Mini-Secretariat, Khattar said an inquiry was being conducted to ascertain whether the pages had been deliberately removed from the files or had gone missing due to negligence. He said action would be initiated after getting the inquiry report.

IAS officer Ashok Khemka sought the registration of an FIR after an RTI query filed by him had revealed that official notings pertaining to setting up of a three-member committee by the previous government were missing. The pages pertained to a clean chit to Vadra’s firm.

Khattar said, “The missing documents will have no bearing on the probe into Vadra’s land deals as the government is in possession of a separate copy of the file with all documents in it.”

Announcing various development projects for Panipat earlier, Khattar said the bus stand would be shifted to the area in Sectors 13 and 17 to ease traffic congestion.

He announced widening of the Chaajpur-Siwah road for smooth flow of traffic on the road towards Uttar Pradesh via Sanauli and construction of a road along drain two from the Barsat road to the Sanauli road.

The Chief Minister announced shifting of the sugar mill to Dahar, setting up of a solid waste management project, construction of a road to divert traffic from the Assandh road towards the TDI flyover, reviving the Hali lake and beautifying of open spaces beneath the flyover on National Highway 1.

Khattar announced opening of a Chief Minister’s window in each district on Sushashan Divas to mark former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee’s birthday for receiving complaints from the public.

Reiterating his stand to provide a transparent and corruption-free administration, he said stern action would be taken against guilty officers after inquiry.

Responding to a query, he said illegal colonies had been developed as previous governments had failed to provide residential accommodation at affordable rates. “Our government will do so and the problem of illegal colonies will be solved automatically,” he asserted.
